In Room 3 we have been looking at and investigating different ways to make a number. The students had to come up with three different ways to represent the given number. We then decided to put our fish in the ocean! We hope you like our "Fish Addition."

Ms Fiona Blair
Class Teachers - Room 3
On Monday and Tuesday this week we welcomed an interactive Maths Workshop, World of Maths to our school.
The students enjoyed completing a range of math activities, developing a range of math skills including problem solving, working in teams and explored various hands-on math strategies we use in our everyday lives.
All the classes completed a highly engaging session and developed their math skills in a fun and interactive way.

Byford Primary School held our annual school ANZAC Day Service on the final day of Term 1, Thursday 6th April. The service was led by our School Captains Jake and Ashton who did an outstanding job of explaining the importance of ANZAC day and acknowledging all of the service men and women who have fought for our freedom and safety over the years.
Thank you to all of our student leaders for assisting on the day, with a special mention to Finn and Ava for their special readings. Also, a thank you to our School Board Chairperson Mrs Charlton and Mrs Stacey Adey representing the P&C for laying a wreath alongside Jake, Ashton, Ms Harrington and students from each class.
Congratulations also goes to our School Choir who sang a beautiful rendition of "We Are One" in Noongar Language.
ANZAC Day is an important date in our country’s calendar, and we were proud to commemorate this event.
Lest We Forget.

Congratulations and well done to all
students who received Merit Awards.
Keep up the great work!

Each month two students are chosen as our ‘Aussie of the Month’ and are presented with a badge, certificate and reward at our assembly.
It is awarded to an outstanding citizen in our school community.

Hi everyone. I hope that you are all getting a good night’s sleep. We have just had a full moon. Unfortunately, there are those that will have found it more difficult, if not impossible, to get any sleep on that night. It is amazing how the natural world around us can and does impact us.
More so to the point is the fact that we can and do impact the world around us. We may never know or see the ripple effects that our deeds or even misdeeds do. Yes, you are not insignificant.
So, after a good, bad, excellent, or indifferent night’s sleep, do you wake up and say to yourself, “Who could I help today?” Hmmm, what a challenge. But stop and think, how many times has a stranger helped you? What a feeling it is to be rescued or to be simply helped out. Why not spread that feeling of help and hope.
Who could you help today? Food for thought. Have a wonderful day everyone.

School Chaplain

Containers for Change
We’ve joined the Containers for Change team to raise money for the Year 6 camp, whilst helping to make a real difference to the environment. This will roll over to the Year 6 Fundraising Committee every year. Donation bins have been placed in the undercover, blue court and pre-primary areas for students to donate their used water/drink bottles, juice and milk boxes (please look out for the 10c icon on the side of the container). If you wish to donate containers from your household, please quote our Scheme ID #C10425624 when you drop off your containers to the recycle drop-off points and the funds will automatically get deposited into our fundraising account. We’ve successfully raised just under $680 so far, from families and students recycling their cans and bottles – so thank you for your support.

A ‘No Hat, Limited Outside Play’ policy is enforced at Byford Primary School all year. Parents can assist us by reinforcing the need for protection from the sun by ensuring that students have a wide brim hat. Hats can be purchased through the school uniform shop next to Room 3. Students who do not have a hat are instructed to play under sheltered areas such as the Undercover Area near the canteen. Caps are not acceptable as they do not provide adequate protection to the ears and back of the neck from the sun.
