School Council

In 2015 Byford PS commenced as an Independent Public School and thus the School Council became a School Board. An elected School Board meets twice a term. This board will consist of:

  • The Principal
  • Two elected staff members
  • Five to seven elected school community members
  • One community member

The role of the Board is to take part in:

  • Formulating Codes of Conduct, establishing and reviewing the school’s objectives, priorities and general policy directions
  • Contribute to the school's Delivery and Performance Agreement (DPA) which is a document that summaries what the school wants to achieve in the future and how it plans to get there. the agreement is signed off by the Chair of the Board, the Principal and the Director General of Education.
  • Financial planning to support the above
  • Evaluating school performance in achieving these
  • Approve fees, charges, contributions and items of personal use (booklists)

Parent Members: Michelle Hewitt, Rachel Kerridge, Karina Miller, Taryn Chaytor,  Stacey Siroen, Steve Veerers, Michelle Charlton and Amanda Sheperdson (School Board Chair).

Teacher Representatives: Gen Coombs, Kevin Gellatly, Fiona Blair and Sue Heath (Principal).

School Newsletter

In an endeavor to maintain strong communication lines with parents, a newsletter is prepared every fortnight. Parents may receive an emailed version of the newsletter or receive a printed copy every second Friday. Please read the newsletter to ensure you receive all information.

If you do not receive a newsletter please contact the office. The newsletter contains information about various activities occurring at the school.
